Featured below is one of our WOW Team Leaders, Nick Allen. Nick is majoring in Computer Science & Engineering at The Ohio State University. After he graduates, he hopes to work in software engineering and/or cybersecruity.

Nick has been with the WOW Program for 2 years. Learn more below about his positive experiences with the WOW Program!

What is your favorite part of WOW? Having been volunteering with WOW for two and a half years now, I’ve had the chance to see many students grow and develop throughout elementary school. I love watching how quickly students change not only what they’re interested in, but how they learn, grow, and interact with other people.

What have you learned from WOW and how might this be applied to your future career? It’s often challenging to teach students who are significantly younger than you, especially since you must ensure that everyone understands what you’re talking about. This will, of course, be the case in many aspects of work and life, whether you’re trying to instruct people much older or younger than you or simply someone who doesn’t have the knowledge and understanding of a topic like you do.

Anything else to add about WOW? I would highly recommend volunteering with WOW to anyone who’s considering it. Not only do you have the chance to give back to the students in your community, but it’s an awesome way to spend a few hours during the week taking a break from your normal studies!
