WOW Spotlight: Ryan Kerwood

Meet Ryan! Ryan is a junior majoring in psychology with a minor in American Sign Language (ASL). He started WOW two years ago, at the very beginning of his college experience.

After spending a year studying computer science, Ryan realized that what he enjoyed most was getting to know the people in the major. This led him to switch to psychology with the goal of becoming a counselor and better understanding others. He knew psychology was the right fit when he started looking forward to attending classes again!

Ryan sees his major as good preparation for his future career and looks forward to continuing his education in a master’s program. Through WOW, he has also learned how to work and communicate better with a group to accomplish things they couldn’t do alone.

What’s your favorite Ohio State memory or experience?

My favorite Ohio State memory is staying up late in my cramped Drackett dorm room, talking with my roommates about anything and everything.

What is your favorite part of WOW?

Seeing the kids’ eyes light up when the experiments react and they get to see science in motion.

What advice would you offer to future students in your major?

Find professors you enjoy learning from, and once you do, make sure you actually show up to class. It makes a world of difference!
