WOW Spotlight: Erin Davis
Meet Erin! She is a second-year student at Ohio State University, pursuing a major in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a minor in Environmental Science. Erin has always been passionate about both working with people and advancing her knowledge in the pharmaceutical field. She aspires to work closely with patients while continuing to explore the development and manufacturing of medications. Erin joined WOW in the fall of 2023, during her freshman year, and has been a dedicated and engaged volunteer ever since!
Why did you choose your major?
I chose this major because I am interested in helping people and it felt secure as drugs will always have a demand. What I like most about it is learning about different medications and how they affect our bodies. I also have enjoyed learning about addictive drugs and the options/treatments used to help patients quit certain negative habits/addictions. This topic is something I have always been interested in and some courses I have taken that spoke about it include Drug Culture and Genetics (PHR 2420) and Intro to Pharm (PHR 2510). I know Pharmaceutical Sciences is the right major for me because I enjoy learning new information regarding Pharmacy -which is a long term commitment in this profession and I really enjoy the classes content.
What's your favorite part about WOW?
My favorite part of the Wonders of Our World Program is the opportunity to meet new friends that may have similar classes as me (STEM Majors) and the opportunity to branch out and meet good references for the future.
What have you learned from WOW that you could apply to your future career?
WOW has taught me first hand how to prepare prior to work (learning experiments before performing at visits) and has helped me learn how to communicate efficiently with children and adults which will come into play in community pharmacy when advising/working with patients of all ages.
