WOW: Fall 2024-Spring 2025

As the academic year comes to an end, we want to reflect on some highlights of the school year. Wonders of our World began doing visits at Lindbergh Elementary School, and continued to visit Avondale Elementary and Sullivant Elementary. Looking forward, we are excited to continue visiting Lindbergh and Avondale Elementary while introducing a new school, Cedarwood Elementary!
Over the course of the year, our volunteer teams led interactive lessons on a wide range of scientific topics, including the scientific method, plants and seeds, chemistry, space, and insects! Highlights included showcasing live plants from The Ohio State University’s greenhouse, giving students a tangible connection to plant science, and launching homemade film canister rockets to explore chemical reactions during our chemistry unit.
Wonders of our World had the opportunity to share some experiments off to the community during WestFest, Ohio State's Homecoming Alumni Event, and COSI's Science Fest! Through these events, we showed off our at home fossil molds, marker robots, and ice cube fishing experiments. Approaching the end of the year, WOW had the opportunity to partner with Ohio State's Chemistry Demo Lab to do experiments such as nitrogen ice cream and elephant toothpaste and Avondale Elementary!
Looking ahead to the 2025–2026 school year, we are especially thrilled to introduce our Student Council component to the program. This initiative will empower students to take on leadership roles, contribute feedback, and give Ohio State students the opportunity to be even more interactive in the classroom.
