WestFest 2025
This year Wonder's of Our World brought some new experiments to show off to the community! Similar to last year where we made clay fossils, we brought back some old experiments from previous units. From our ecology unit, we archived the Growing Grass experiment, and made it a take-home project. This experiment highlighted how something like growing grass/plants can be made as easy as putting seeds in a bag and wearing it like a necklace! Our second experiment, paper clip sailing, displayed how surface tension of the water can be strong enough to hold things above the water line.
A few takeaways from the wonderful volunteers who joined us was being able to have the opportunity to share these experiments with the children and adults of the community. Everyone who was able to participate with us enjoyed being able to make and take home a seed necklace, and found it interesting that eventually seeds will sprout from just a damp paper towel in a sandwich bag.
Wonders of Our World extends its gratitude to the college students, families, and elementary school participants who joined in the fun. Their enthusiasm helped make WestFest 2025 a memorable celebration of science, learning, and community engagement!
